Psychology A Level at Twynham School

Course description

Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour. The A-level will lead students through the complexities of the mind, including methodology, research and its application. Topics studied include social influence, stress, eating disorders, schizophrenia, biological rhythms and sleep.

Psychology links particularly well with careers which involve people. Education, nursing, sport, therapy and psychological occupations all demand a knowledge of psychology. 

This course is designed to: Develop an awareness of the workings of the human mind and the scientific investigation of human behaviour.

Paper 1 – Introduction to topics in psychology
Paper 2 - Psychology in context

A Level

Paper 1 – Introduction to topics in psychology
Paper 2 – Psychology in context
Paper 3 – Issues and options in psychology

Entry requirements

Essential Entry Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 ‘B’ grades and 2 ‘C’ grades to include C or above in English and Mathematics

Preferred Entry Requirement:

  • Grade B in English and Biology or a B grade in the Biology component of Double science
