Business BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Settle College
A BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is a two year vocational course that would normally be studied alongside a range of traditional A level programmes or BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas. The full Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A Level, and carries a maximum of 120 UCAS points. The BTEC Certificate, awarded after successful completion of one year, is equivalent to an AS Level and carries a maximum of 60 UCAS points.
In Year 12 you will study the following:
Unit 1 – The Business Environment
Unit 2 – Business Resources
Unit 3 – Marketing
In Year 13 you will study the following:
Unit 4 – Business Communication
Unit 13 – Recruitment and Selection in Business
Unit 39 – International Busines

4 GCSEs Grade C or above.
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is 100% coursework assessed and may include portfolio work - there are no exams. Projects are submitted for marking on a regular basis throughout the course. They are assessed internally by your teachers and then moderated by the board.
Your work will be graded pass, merit, distinction or distinction*. The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A Level and carries a maximum of 120 UCAS points. The BTEC Certificate, awarded after successful completion of one year, is equivalent to an AS Level and carries a maximum of 60 UCAS points.
Students must complete and pass the first year to be awarded a BTEC Certificate and the full 2 years of the course to receive the full BTEC Subsidiary Diploma.
We are aware that Edexcel is currently evaluating the assessment process and there may be the introduction of an examined unit. Further information is unavailable at the current time.
Students who have followed this course have gone on to a wide range of courses and careers. These include Sports Science, law, Business and Journalism. Daniel studied the BTEC Subsidiary in Business alongside A level Mathematics and a BTEC Subsidiary in IT. He achieved a Merit at the end of his course and is planning to begin an AAT Accounting course.
