Film Studies A Level at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Course description

Do you love watching movies? Have you ever wondered why we laugh at some films while others make us scared? If yes, you’ll love Film Studies.

This theoretical course allows you to explore a wide range of international film making from Hollywood to Mexican cinema. You’ll be encouraged to express your ideas through discussion and debate, while analysing the ways that the world is represented in the movies. As well as this, you will study the Film Industry as a business, analyse the ways that meaning is created for audiences and, of course, watch a wide range of engaging and exciting films!

Entry requirements

You will need to have:

  • 5 GCSE passes at grade C / grade 5 or above including English Language and Mathematics.

Assessment

Assessment is 40% coursework and 60% written examination.
