Course description

The Media Industry employs a large number of people who undertake a wide range of job roles using an array of different skills and techniques. When you think of the media sector, you may think of just a small part of the media, such as working in television, but the sector encompasses many different industries.

The industries include: Television and film; Newspapers and magazines; Web design Games design; Advertising Radio Print-based media. This BTEC Level 3 course provides students with the opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to the media industries. The BTEC Level 3 Certificate ‘AS’ and Subsidiary Diploma ‘A2’ in Creative Media Production- Television and Film, is fully equivalent to ‘A’ Levels in the UCAS points system.

Entry requirements

A GCSE grade of at least a ‘C’ in English is required alongside the motivation to meet deadlines and work with a degree of independence. Students on this course are set very strict deadlines which have to be met. Students should have a profile of success at Level 2.

Future opportunities

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Creative Media Production – television and film is a fully recognised qualification and is considered as a pre-entry qualification for specialist media related degrees or industrial training. It provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for those wishing to enter upon a career in the media or progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as BTEC Higher National Diploma in Creative Media or related degrees.
