Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering (Heat Pump) at Alpha Building Services Engineering

Course description

The purpose of this qualification is to introduce refrigeration and air-conditioning (heat pump) systems to engineers who are either in the industry, or want to enter the industry. This training will provide them with the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge to qualify them to install and commission refrigeration and air conditioning (Heat Pump) Systems.
They will gain F-gas qualification at the end of the course in addition to our in-house certificate.

Course content

·         Installation of refrigeration/air-conditioning systems
·         Cutting and brazing of copper pipe to IOR standard
·         Repair and Servicing of refrigeration unit
·         Strength and Pressure testing
·         Evacuation of systems to BSEN378
·         Charging fluorinated refrigerants
·         Air-condition and Refrigeration Electrics
·         The use of waste transfer note
·         The use of ‘F Gas’ log books
·         The use of PH Charts and comparators to analyse system performance
·         Refrigerants


The course is assessed by sitting a multiple choice examination for which, we provide adequate teaching and information to make it easy for you to pass. There is a practical assessment that will be conducted at the end of the course.
