Promoting Independence - Diploma entry Level 1 at East Surrey College
This course provides a full-time, 1 year, Edexcel accredited programme for students aged 16 – 24 years old with complex needs. Consultations are held with parents and carers, and observation of students preferred learning styles are carried out. In response to this, students will then have the opportunity to follow a personal programme within the group context. The use of TEACHH and Intensive Interaction techniques help manage change and develop students’ decision making skills. The course will also help develop skills for community living and engagement, and involvement and integration in students’ daily lives.
All units/topics will be assessed within the college using a variety of appropriate methods.
Students will experience more engagement with the world and community around them. Some students may progress to Entry 2 in the following academic year.
