History A Level at Christ the King Sixth Form College - St Mary's

Course description

History is a traditional academic subject which we study with modern methods, debates and discussions in order to develop analytical skills and high expertise in essay writing. Topics are studied using a variety of methods including research methods, evidence based questions and essays. You should be a student who enjoys asking questions, reading, researching and writing and be ambitious to develop a high level of skill in these areas.

Areas of study:

  • The social and political development of Britain
  • 20% coursework element on obtaining equality in the United States
  • Autocracy and dictatorships in both Russia and Germany

Entry requirements

GCSE English (A*–C) and, if taken, GCSE History (A*–C).
