The construction industry is one of the largest and broadest to work in, employing around 7% of the UKs workforce, and there is always a demand for skilled professionals, whether that's developing hospitals or housing estates.
Carpenters and Joiners need to have a good eye for detail, strong maths skills and the ability to follow instructions and technical drawings.
Apprenticeships in Carpentry and Joinery will give you the theoretical knowledge you need to succeed in the industry, the practical skills to produce work to a high
standard, and an understanding of health and safety, materials and sustainability.
Learners will have the opportunity to choose one of two pathways:
- Site carpentry
- Bench joinery
Minimum Level 1 or GCSE grade D in Maths and English. All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths and English. Merit or Distinction in a related subject at Level 2.
Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers, so they offer a structured programme that takes you through the skills you need to do a job well. Each apprenticeship involves a structured programme of training leading to a recognised qualification, and they are available at different levels, letting you choose the speed you wish to learn at.
