Music Diploma at Branston Community Academy

Course description

The course is assessed using a series of assignments marked by your teachers. All projects will be directly related to the music industry and the style of music chosen for your projects and performances. You will be encouraged to perform your own music in a band or group from the outset and develop as a band/ group and solo musician. The course is based around you developing as a musician and composer and you will perform at various venues in the area extending your skills and experience. You will also be introduced to a variety of other styles including Jazz and Blues. You will receive workshops and guidance from professionals within the industry and will also see various professional musicians performing live as well as visiting working professional venues. You will record and distribute Demo material for your group and be encouraged to research and begin work within the industry.

Entry requirements

An ability to play a musical instrument. You do not necessarily need a good knowledge of music theory but you should be a confident player and have some experience in a group performance. A real interest in computer music and sound recording. A willingness to perform and market you music within the local area. GCSE music is not essential although a good standard of general education at GCSE is needed.
