Psychology A2 at King David High School

Course description

A level psychology is an exciting new opportunity, to study a subject not previously encountered at GCSE level. It is also a valuable subject to take if you are considering pursuing the following vocations: Teaching, nursing, working with children, police, law and careers within human resource management and the NHS.

In undertaking the course, you will develop:

An enthusiasm for psychology
An understanding of concepts, principles and research methods within this discipline.

Entry requirements

GCSE Core Science and Additional Science: BC or CB

GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics: BCC and above

GCSE English Language (C) and GCSE Maths (C)

*Please consider when making your choice that statistical analysis of results show that students with Grades B and above find the course much more accessible.

Assessment

A level exams: Papers 1,2 and 3 are 2 hours long and contain elements of multiple choice questions, short answer questions and extended writing. Paper 3 contains the option questions.

Financial information

Throughout the course there will be opportunities to attend study days and taster days, which will may require a voluntary contribution.
