Unit 1: Further Pure 1:
Complex numbers; numerical solution of equations; coordinate systems; matrix algebra; series; proof by
induction.
Assessment: 1½ hour written paper (33⅓%)
Unit 2: Mechanics 2
Projectiles; centres of mass; work, energy and power; collisions; statics of rigid bodies.
Assessment: 1½ hour written paper (33⅓%)
Unit 3: Statistics 2:
Binomial distribution; poisson distribution; continuous random variable; continuous distributions;
hypothesis testing.
Assessment: 1½ hour written paper (33⅓%)
A2 Level (Year 13)
Unit 4: Further Pure 2:
Inequalities; series; further complex numbers; first and second order differential equations; Maclaurin
and Taylor series; polar coordinates.
Assessment: 1½ hour written paper (33⅓%)
Unit 5: Further Pure 3:
Hyperbolic functions; further coordinate systems; differentiation of hyperbolic and inverse trigonometric
functions; integration including reduction formulae; vectors; further matrix algebra.
Assessment: 1½ hour written paper (33⅓%)
Unit 6: Mechanics 3:
Further kinematics (variable acceleration); elastic strings and springs; further dynamics (simple harmonic
motion); circular motion; statics of rigid bodies.
Assessment: 1½ hour written paper (33⅓%)
