Critical Thinking at Felixstowe Academy

Course description

Critical thinking is different from most other subjects you will study. It is a skills based course rather than content based. You will learn over the units how to apply critical thinking skills in a variety of contexts. You will be able to apply these skills to any subject and therefore it is useful to support all further study.

Course content

You will study 4 units.

  • AS Unit 1: Introduction to critical thinking.
  • AS Unit 2: Assessing & developing argument.
  • A2 Unit 3: Ethical reasoning & decision making.
  • A2 Unit 4: Critical reasoning.

Entry requirements

The course is appropriate for those that acheived at least 5 GCSE's A* - C grades.

Each unit has an exam at the end.

Future opportunities

Critical thinking develops skills that both universities and employers look for. If you are considering going to university you will need to check with individual establishments to see if they accept critical thinking towards your UCAS points.
