Bricklaying Diploma Level 1 at Lancaster and Morecambe College
This course is for students who wish to develop basic brickwork skills with a view to progression within construction.
You will study the following: • Safe Working, Information, Quantities and Communication • Construction Technology • Basic Blocklaying Skills • Basic Bricklaying Skills • Basic Cavity Walling • Setting Out and Building Basic Masonry All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment
4 GCSEs at grade D-G preferably including English or maths. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including assignments, practical performance, examination and course work.
Students will be expected to pay £50.00 prior to the start of the course. This includes personal protective equipment and stationery which will be required for the course.
The course can lead on to Diploma Level 2 Bricklaying or Bricklaying Apprenticeship.
On completion of this course you will receive Cskills Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying.
Most of the course work will be completed in class.
