Art & Design Cambridge Technical Level 2 at Stoke Park School and Community Technology College

Course description

Exam Board:        OCR  

Course Outline   This is a one-year course designed to enable young people to creatively express themselves. It is suitable for those who have not previously studied GCSE Art.

 

Course content

For the full certificate qualification graded( PASS,MERIT,DISTINCTION) students must Achieve  units;   · Unit 01: Exploring the Work of Artists and Designers ( 60 GLH ) and · Unit 11: 3D Media, Materials and Techniques ( 30 GLH )  

Students will have the opportunity to develop their own technical skills, appreciation of art and artists. There is a substantial practical element to the course and learners will produce drawings, paintings, sculptures, models and prints,. Some key Art history knowledge areas will be delivered to provide an awareness of how art has changed and developed. Learners will also have opportunity to experiment with photography and digital media. 

 

The units are both internally assessed and externally moderated by OCR

 

 

Unit 01 Exploring the Work of Artists and Designers

 

In this unit, students learn about artists, craftspeople and designers. They also understand the key trends and movements that influence artwork.  They develop their ideas and create a piece of artwork inspired by the work of another artist .

 

 

Unit 11 3D Media, Materials and Techniques

 

In this unit, students will have opportunities to use a range of 3D materials, techniques and art processes. They learn how artists and designers use 3D materials, techniques and processes to create pieces of art. Students will be shown how to work safely in a creative environment using a range of tools and materials.

 

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements however, an interest in creating art, being imaginative, making and developing their own ideas is essential.

 

Assessment
