French at Moor End Academy

Course content

  Topics covered are self and family, school and education, the environment, travel and tourism including the local area, house and home and leisure and free time. All points of grammar are covered through these areas of vocabulary and pupils cover the four Attainment Targets of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. The aim of the GCSE is to provide pupils with a competent skill to be able to offer to the world of work, either at 16 or to be able to continue at Advanced Level.

Assessment

Assessment – 25% Speaking Test (lasts about fifteen minutes.) 25% Coursework / 25% Terminal Writing Test 25% Reading (Terminal Exam) 25% Listening (Terminal Exam)All four areas are taken at either Foundation or Higher Level, except for coursework, which is decided by outcome. Itispossible to achieve a grade C with Foundation Level.
