Hospitality Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship at Mizuna Training Limited

Course description

This qualification is designed for learners employed in hospitality roles such as bar people/managers, waiters, waitresses, conference and banqueting assistants/managers who need to develop or consolidate their skills. They may work in a variety of hospitality businesses such as hotels, leisure complex, restaurants, contract caterers, public house or youth hostel for example.

Learners are required to take mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, giving customers a positive impression of yourself and organisation together with maintaining food safety when storing, holding and serving food. Learners then have a choice of option units covering different functional areas such as serve food at the table, prepare and clear the bar area, promote additional services or products to customers. There is a wide range of option units allowing learners to choose units to meet the needs of their own work role.

Course content

Training and Assessment is tailored to both the learner and employer needs. We will utilise a number of methods according to the preferred learning style indicated through the initial assessment. These can be 1 to 1 up skilling either by trainer or employer, the use of workbooks, audio and online support tools. The Food and Beverage Service Apprenticeship is delivered within the workplace over a minimum of 12 months.

Physical resources need to support the delivery of the qualification and the assessment of the learning outcomes must be of industry standard.

On the next pages are the units that can be chosen to create the NVQ (competence) element of the Apprenticeship. We will discuss these with both the employer and learner to ensure that the qualification reflects the requirements of the role and the needs of the learner. Once chosen we will then look at the units for the knowledge element often reflecting the competence choices.
