Course description

Studying Chemistry gives you an excellent qualification for a wide career choice within science, industry or commerce. A chemistry student needs to be numerate, analytical and has good problem solving, presentation and communication skills.

Chemistry A level is split into six modules. Modules 1-4 constitute the stand alone AS level qualification; Modules 1-6 combined with the practical endorsement constitute the full A level -

Module 1 - Development of Practical Skills

Module 2 - Foundations in Chemistry

Module 3 - The Periodic Table and Energy

Module 4 - Core Organic Chemistry

Module 5 - Physical Chemistry and Transition Elements

Module 6 - Organic Chemistry and Analytical Techniques

Entry requirements

To access the Sixth Form a minimum of 5 A*-C in five different subjects including English and Maths is required.

To access the Chemistry A level - GCSE Double Award with a minimum of one grade A and one grade B - Triple Science a grade A in Chemistry and a minimum of a grade B in either Biology or Physics.
