Electrical Installations Level 3 Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This course is for anyone who wants to work as an electrician in the building services engineering sector. This qualification does not make candidates fully qualified electricians however it allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electro-technology sector. You will study a range of units including: Health and safety in building services engineering, Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems, Principles of electrical science, fault diagnosis and rectification, inspection, testing and commissioning, and Electrical systems design. English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course.

Entry requirements

Level 2 in Electrical with a Merit profile and Functional Skills. You will also need to pass an aptitude test

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 3 qualification e.g. 4 or more AS Levels or 2 A Levels. Advanced Learning Loans are available for further education courses at Level 3, 4 & 5. They operate like higher education loans with deferred payments until you earn over approximately £21, 000 per year. (Information available at https://www.gov.uk/advanced -learning-loans/overview) You have the option of taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan with the college that best suits your needs

Future opportunities

At this point you need site experience to complete your studies via an NVQ and an AM2 assessment in order to become a fully qualified electrician. You could also look to progress onto higher education.
