Chemistry - AS/A2 Level at Northampton College

Course description

Chemistry is the science of the material world. It is concerned with the structure and interactions of all the matter in the universe - whether animal, vegetable or mineral. It offers unlimited scope to people who want to understand and contribute to further developments in our use and conservation of the materials around us. Chemistry occupies a central position among the sciences. On one hand it is linked with physics through physical chemistry and such topics as the heat changes of chemical reactions. On the other hand with biology through biochemistry and such topics as enzyme catalysis. Chemistry is fundamental to physiology and to medicine. It plays an important part in such sciences as geology and environmental science and it underlies many branches of technology and particularly chemical engineering. A Level Chemistry is essential for all medical or medically related professions.
