Retail Knowledge Diploma – Level 3 at Dudley College

Course description

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Retail Knowledge qualification is aimed at those looking to progress into a supervisor, sales professional or management role, such as retail buyer, merchandiser, sales manager, store manager, online retailer, or into a retail specialist role.

Course content

The Diploma is a more substantial qualification that will help learners to develop the skills needed to work in a junior role at Level 2 or to progress to a management role in the retail sector at Level 3.

This qualification gives the learner an opportunity to:

complete projects and assignments based on understanding workplace situations and activities. Topics covered can include understanding displays and visual merchandising, understanding handling cash, security and stock control

understand health and safety regulations in a retail environment and some legal aspects of retail, and to develop their team-working and customer service skills

establish a foundation of knowledge and understanding to a Level 3 qualification in retail

extend their programme of study through a competency based or other related vocational or personal and social development qualification.

Entry requirements

Two GCSE’s at grade C and a grade 4 in English and mathematics.

 

Assessment

A variety of methods are used to assess learning throughout the course and they are as follows:

• Formal business reports
• Formal business presentations
• Professional skill role-play activities
• In-class assessments – formal and informal.

All are graded on a pass/merit/distinction basis and each accrue a different value of points.

There is no need to worry about the costs of coming to college as there is lots of financial help available. Our finance and welfare officers will be able to talk to you about any help that may be available to you based on your individual circumstances.

Students aged 16-18 attending a full-time further education course can apply to the 16-18 Bursary Fund for help with college related costs. Free BUS PASS

 

We will provide a free bus pass to help with travel costs for 16-18* year olds on full-time programmes, based on individual circumstances**. To qualify for a free bus pass***, you must live more than one mile from the campus at which you will be studying and not already be in receipt of other financial support, such as Care to Learn funding.

 

*Under 19 as at 31 August 2017.

 

**Students with learning difficulties or disabilities who are unable to access public transport may still be able to receive help – talk to our Student Finance team.

 

***Evidence of family income will need to be provided.
