Sociology at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar Alford - A Selective Academy
This is a demanding course but no prior knowledge of the subject is required.
You should choose this course if:
- you want your mind to be stretched and challenged
- you have an inquisitive mind and like to look ‘beyond the surface’
Sociology will certainly help you to help make sense of your own experiences in society. It can give you new ways of seeing the social world around you. You will question aspects of it you had previously taken for granted. It can provide you with the "tools" which will allow you to become a better informed and more socially aware member of society.
To enter the Sixth Form, pupils should normally have achieved a minimum of 8 GCSE passes including English and Mathematics at grade C or above. For A level study, students should usually have a grade A or above (and at least a B) in the subjects they wish to study.
