CACHE Child Care & Education Level 2 at Nottingham Academy

Course description

Are you interested in working in the childcare sector? Do you

want to find out more about how to meet children’s

developing needs? This is a practical work-related course.

Course content

Unit 1: An introduction to working with children 0-5 years

You will get an overview of the provision for work and the

responsibilities of your role. You will also learn about children’s

individual needs and how to treat children fairly.


Unit 2: Development and will being 0-5

You will look at how children develop. You will also be

introduced to ways of observing children so that you can

support their development through appropriate activities and

activities and care routines.


Unit 3 Childcare and development 0-5

You will be assessed on childcare and development 0-5.

Entry requirements

Usually 5 GCSEs at grade D/E or above however, applications will be

taken into consideration depending on previous educational background.


– Unit 1 & 2: Portfolio.

– Unit 3: External multiple choice question paper.

Future opportunities

Once you have gained full level 2 qualifications you can move

on to the level 3 course in children’s play learning and

development at level 3. It is also the first step into working on

a child care setting.
