Classical Civilisation GCSE OCR 1940 at Sandown Bay Academy

Course description

a study of Classical Civilisation will help a student important skills such as problem solving, historical criticism and appreciation of aesthetics. Course Topics: Greek Religion; Greek Art and Architecture; Sparta and the Spartan System; Homer; Greek Comedy and The Persian War. For assessment students choose one of the above for coursework 20% and are assessed on 4 topics in the exam 80%. There are two exam papers

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Classical Civilisation or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to civilisation such as working in politics, in the social services or within human rights. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
