Physics AS & A Level at Blatchington Mill School and Sixth Form College

Course description

Students that have studied GCSE Double (or Triple) Science will have realised that knowledge of Forces, Energy and Matter can help us understand more of the world around us. Maybe you’re keen to explore the limits of the Universe and the beginning of Time. Probably you also want to meet the Quantum world.

Physics is more than a subject – it trains your brain to think beyond boundaries.

Course content

The key skills involved in this subject are transferable too:

  • Mathematical skills are needed to back up this knowledge but there is plenty of support during the Physics lessons.
  • Analysing a situation (e.g. in terms of energy transfers or conservation of momentum) can help us to understand what is really going on.
  • Practical skills are needed too, so it helps if you can manipulate equipment carefully, while making detailed measurements.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in Science

Future opportunities

Past Physics students have gone on University to study Physics, Astrophysics, many different kinds of engineering, music technology courses, computing and computer modelling, medical and chemistry courses, even airline pilot training.
