Building Craft Occupations - Foundation Certificate (Level 1) at Skills for Growth

Course description

Foundation Certificate in Building Craft Occupations Level 1 Duration: 1 Day per week for 2 years or 2 days per week for 1 year Description A level One qualification which introduces the students to an overall picture of the construction industry and all the trades involved. Components This course allows students to study the following areas; stacking and storing of materials; fixing components; cut, lay and fix components; mixing materials; applying finishing materials; setting out and health and safety. Assessment Each unit has a practical assessment, knowledge, end of unit test and a final external exam.

Entry requirements

Interview to be carried out by Skills for Growth’s vocational team. Interview to take place with young person and attended by parents/guardians as evidence that the parents or guardians support the pupil’s choice.

Future opportunities

Students can progress onto a level two qualification at and FE college either full or part time attendance or by day release attached to an apprenticeship.
