Business Studies - Level 3 National Subsidiary Diploma at Whitefield School

Course description

From studying the subject , students are able to develop understanding and gain an insight into how businesses work and how they can begin their own companies in later life.

Course content

Students will learn about the following areas: management and leadership, customer service, understanding enterprise, pre-enterprise, business administration, retail, accounting, marketing and sales, legal advice, human resources, health and safety, supply chain management, logistics operations management and traffic office. You will also learn about, business communication, business accounting and market research.

Entry requirements

Students need to have studied and achieved a Pass on the Level 3 BTEC Certificate course.


Students will be assessed on completed assignments set and will be marked by the subject teacher throughout the course. Assignments will then be externally assessed by an external examiner. Assignments may take the form of: a project, a case study, a report, a presentation or a role-play.

Future opportunities

Level 3 BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma is a recognised qualification with universities, and is valued by employers. Students who choose to study Business at level 3 often continue their studies at university.

The Level 3 BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma in Business will equip students for a career in a wide range of industries, or allow them to study for a degree in Business, Marketing, Business and Business Management. It also prepares students for the world of work.
