Product Design at The South Wolds Academy & Sixth Form

Course description

Will live a consumer society and the design and manufacture of products is a multibillion dollar industry. People use hundreds of different products every day from a toothbrush when you wake up, a toaster for breakfast, microwave for lunch, sofa to flop out on and mobile phone to contact freinds; the list is never ending! The course focuses on developing an understanding of: why products look the way they do? What makes people want to buy products? How do products affect the environment? What are products made from and why is this material selected? How have products been made and why have they been made that way?

Entry requirements

GCSE in Resistant Materials, Graphic Proeducts or Textiles at grade C or above.
