Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Wiltshire College
There are 32 million vehicles on the UKs roads, from lorries to mopeds, so we need lots of skilled technicians to keep them safe and roadworthy.
Vehicle repair is challenging and hands-on, you will need to be a good problem solver and be interested in doing lots of manual work. You will also need strong communication skills to be able to explain things to customers, colleagues and suppliers.
You could work for a dealership, focusing on a particular vehicle manufacturer or work for an independent garage dealing with a whole range of different vehicles and issues, carrying out maintenance, repairs, and identifying and reporting faults.
Here at Wiltshire College you can complete apprenticeships in either Light or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, supporting you no matter which type of vehicle you work on.
As part of both types of apprenticeships, you will develop skills, knowledge and experience in working with engines, transmissions, chassis, electrics and routine maintenance.
Minimum Level 1 or GCSE grade D in Maths and English. All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths and English. Merit or Distinction in a related subject at Level 2.
Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers, so they offer a structured programme that takes you through the skills you need to do a job well. Each apprenticeship involves a structured programme of training leading to a recognised qualification, and they are available at different levels, letting you choose the speed you wish to learn at.
