Hairdressing - Apprenticeship - Level 2 - NVQ - Diploma at Dimensions Training Solutions

Course description

We have over 30 years experience in delivering hairdressing training throughout Yorkshire and have specialised training and assessment staff. We are currently . Yorkshires largest hairdressing training provider working with over 750 learners working towards Level 1,2 and 3 in Hairdressing. As we are a Work Based Learning provider you will be employed from day one of your Apprenticeship so not only will you receive high quality hairdressing training you will also be in receipt of a full time training wage.

Course content

The qualification is designed by the sector skills council for hairdressing employers to ensure young people have the skills employers want. The target hairdressing qualification is Hairdressing NVQ Level 2 but you will also undertake Functional Skills units in Numeracy and Literacy at Level 1. The underpinning knowledge and theory work will take place at the training academy for a full day.

NVQ LEVEL 2 HAIRDRESSING - SUMMARY OF UNITS

Mandatory Units (all must be completed)

  • G20 - Ensure your actions reduce risks to health & safety
  • G17 - Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • G7 - Advise and consult with clients
  • GH8 - Shampoo,condition and treat hair and scalp
  • GH12- Cut hair using basic techniques
  • GH10 - Style,and finish hair
  • GH9 - Change hair colour
  • GH11 - Set and dress hair

PLUS 1 OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONAL UNITS

  • GH14 - Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniques
  • GH13 - Plaiting and twist hair
  • GH15 - Attach hair to enhance a style
  • GH18 - Fulfil salon reception duties
  • G6 - Promote additional products or services to clients
  • G8 - Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

 

9 units in total must be achieved to gain a full Hairdressing Level 2 Qualification.

Entry requirements

You are required to sit a Functional Skills initial assessment. From this you must attain Level 1 or greater. All learners are employed from day one so you must be employed in a salon. All this is explained at the interview stage and Dimensions assist in the process of finding employment.

Assessment

Learners will be observed by a nominated assessor throughout the hairdressing qualification, until competent.Knowledge is assessed by completion of written test papers, oral questioning, and assignments.

Future opportunities

There are many future opportunities within the Hairdressing Industry , many of our apprentices have gone on to complete an  Hairdressing Advance Apprenticeship and gained their assessors award and now work as assessors for Dimensions Training Solutions . Many other apprentices have gone on to own their own salon, work on cruise ships and even abroad on shows.
