Software Development BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at New College Nottingham

Course description

This course is perfect if you want to get a true understanding of what is involved in a software development role and understand the skills that are required.

You'll have a keen interest in learning abut the fundamentals of the software development life-cycle, and the desire to develop skills in coding VB, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Course content

You'll learn all about website production, systems analysis and design, object orientated programming, client-side customisation of web pages, e-commerce and much more.                 

Units you will study include:

  • Website Production
  • System Analysis and Design
  • The impact of IT on Business Systems
  • Project Planning with IT
  • Event Driven Programming
  • Client Side Customisation of Web Pages
  • Object Orientated Programming
  • E-commerce

Entry requirements

You’ll need: At least four GCSEs at grade C or above including English & Maths plus a successful college interview or by recommendation from tutors following a BTEC First Diploma in IT course, with at least a Merit grade including English and Maths Functional Skills at Level 1 or above.


All units are assessed and graded through assignments

Future opportunities

You could go onto study:

• Level 4 Advanced Apprenticeship IT Professional
• HND in Computing or Business Information Technology
