Medical Administration AMSPAR Level 3 Diploma at The City of Liverpool College
The course prepares students for the City & Guilds/AMSPAR Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration. Medical administrators give administrative and secretarial support to doctors, nurses, medical researchers, hospital administrators and managers. They can work in health centres, hospitals, private medical healthcare, medical schools, universities or pharmaceutical companies. This is a most rewarding career for those with a keen interest in medicine and people in generally.
In order to gain the full City & Guilds/AMSPAR Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration you will need to gain a minimum of 52 credits
The units taught will include all of the following:
- Unit 220 Medical Terminology (6 credits)
- Unit 223 Working in the NHS (9 credits)
- Unit 331 Medical Administration (8 credits)
- Unit 332 Managing Communication in a Medical Environment (7 credits)
- Unit 333 Medical Word Processing (9 credits)
- Unit 334 Medical Audio Transcription (9 credits)
- Unit 335 Medical Principles (9 credits)
Students should have a minimum of five GCSE passes (Grade C or above) including English
Ability to use a computer proficiently.
OCR/RSA Text Processing/Word Processing/Audio Transcription or equivalent at Level 1 or above
Complete an Initial Assessment test at Level 2
Entry on the course without the aforementioned qualifications will be at the discretion of the Course Team.
Students can apply directly for jobs in the health service as a medical administrator/secretary/PA or progress to studying a Level 4 management course.
