Graphic Design AS A Level at Saint Mary's College, Blackburn

Course description

Graphics is about communicating an idea, this could be through advertising or illustration. St Mary’s has a very strong Graphics Department where students are encouraged to explore all forms of Graphic Design. The department specialises in delivering both traditional hand drawn techniques whilst keeping up to date with what is happening in the commercial world. Students are introduced to the most cutting edge technology and advanced media and have produced some sophisticated and innovative work. Teachers from across the Art department work together to encourage their students to mix media, explore ideas and push boundaries.

Entry requirements

English Language grade C and Art or Graphic Technology grade C if taken. In addition any student wishing to take two art subjects will be required to have obtained a grade B in GCSE Art. A student without Art GCSE will be considered for entry on the course, supported by a suitable portfolio of work.
