Course description

Year 12 (Lower Sixth) Lessons

Coursework: The Woman in White and The Lady in the Lake – with each novel being explored under the theme of ‘Secrets’ 

Exam: A study of an anthology with text connected to the theme of ‘Food’. The exam will provide an unseen text to examine and link to the anthology. 

 

Year 13 (Upper Sixth) Lessons

Coursework: Students take two texts of their own choice and ‘transform’ the ideas into a new piece of writing. 

Exam: The Crucible is studied for the exam, and the exam will also offer two unseen transcripts for analysis and comparison. 

Assessment

A mixture of coursework and exam

English Language / Literature A level is a key subject for University entry, and the skills studied on the course enable candidates to write well and read with insight.
