Nursing (Level 3) Access to Higher Education at Barnet and Southgate College

Course description

For people aged 19+ and interested in mental, physical and social aspects of well-being and disease. Those wishing to gain access onto a diploma or a degree course in a people or health-orientated subject. The course offers the underpinning knowledge to gain a level 3 qualification in subjects such as nursing or midwifery.

Course content

This course programme covers: * Mandatory Units * Study Skills * Human Biology * Subject Specific Nursing

Entry requirements

Work experience within the Health and Social Care sector. A grade C or above at GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths is essential. Evidence of paid or voluntary employment within the health and social care sector in an area that you wish to pursue as a career.

Assessment

Assessment will be through: * Essays * Classwork * Projects * Exams Assessment is divided into units with credits given for completed units. A minimum of 45 Level 3 credits and 15 Level 2 credits are needed for successful completion. Please ensure you bring to your interview a handwritten personal statement of approx. 200 words about why you want to work in Health and Social Care

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course students have gained access to Dip HE and modular degree course in subjects such as Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Health Care, Health and Fitness, Environmental Health Studies and Social Science. The course has especially strong links with our local universities; Middlesex, Hertfordshire & London Metropolitan.
