Course description

The BTEC Level 3 National Subsidiary Diploma in Health and Social Care is a one or two year course and is a 1 AS or A Level equivalent. It is suitable for those seeking careers in related employment, or those wishing to go on to complete a HND in Higher Education. It provides a general introduction to the health and social care sectors, with three additional specialist units in more specialised areas.

The course aims to provide a broad foundation for a range of careers in health and social care and to provide a basis for continuing on to Higher Education. Since it is a work-related qualification, it aims to develop the understanding and skills which will enable students to become effective employees. Providing opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge which are transferable and will enable individuals to meet changing circumstances, whether these arise from a shift in their own status or employment, or general changes in health and social care practice, provision or environment.

Entry requirements

Students would need to have achieved 5 GCSE’s A*- C grades including English and Maths to have access to this course.
