NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating. at City Training Services

Course description

Within this programme you will further develop your Plumbing skills, Knowledge and Practical experience by working with various types of Plumbing equipment and Machinery. You will produce a number of practical pieces of Plumbing work; understand plumbing materials and how they are used within the industry.  Understand and carry out Gas work. The Learner will be taught by qualified and experienced tutors at one of our approved local Colleges who will be supportive and encourage “hands on “learning as well as classroom theory. For the duration of the apprenticeship the Learner will receive full support from one of our dedicated training co-ordinators who will maintain regular contact and conduct a progress review every 10 weeks.

Course content

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating (Gas-Fired Water and Central Heating Appliances) has the following units:

Knowledge Units

Understand how to organise resources in building services engineering

Specific core installation and maintenance

Understand core gas safety principles for natural gas in domestic building services

Competence units

Understand and carry out electrical work on domestic plumbing and heating systems and components

Install, commission, service and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems

Tightness test, purge, commission and de-commission gas pipework up to 35mm 1¼ diameter in small natural gas installations

Install commission and de-commission gas pipework up to 35mm 1¼ diameter in domestic and small commercial premises

Maintain gas water heating and wet central heating appliances

Install domestic gas water heaters and wet central heating appliances

Understand and apply domestic sanitation system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques

Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques

Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques.

Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques

Entry requirements

Successful completion of an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Plumbing

Assessment

This qualification is assessed through written & practical Assignments, E-Volve on line examinations and on site assessments by fully qualified Assessors.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Domestic Plumbing and Heating, an apprentice will have the skills, knowledge and qualifications to:

Register on a relevant industry Certification Scheme

Progress to relevant Level 4/5 qualifications e.g. Building Services Engineering

Technology & Project Management or Foundation Degree in Engineering

Progress in their career with further training into such job roles as Technician, Designer,

Estimator, Project Manager, Site/Workshop Supervisor/ Manager, Chartered Engineer,

Sales Engineer or Commercial Manager
