Art and Design UAL Diploma Level 3 at Weston College

Course description

This study programme will give you the chance to explore your creativity and decide where your artistic strengths lie. It's a fast-track to university art and design study programmes and is an alternative to A Levels.

You'll be able to use state-of-the-art facilities and your own studio space to spend all your time on the subject you love.

The year covers many areas of art and design including: animator, fine art, printmaking, fashion and textiles, photography, graphic design, 3D design, sculpture and conceptual work.

Entry requirements

You will need at least 5 GCSE grades A*-C including Art or Design. You could also have a Level 2 qualification such as a BTEC Diploma in Art and Design or a UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design. You should bring a portfolio of your creative work to the interview. If you show exceptional talent or learning experience but don’t have the right qualifications you may still be able to get onto this study programme.


We will assess your practical projects and written assignments throughout the study programme.

Future opportunities

Progress to:

  • 100% of our students who applied successfully progressed to degree programmes many within highly prestigious universities including Harvard University USA, Central St. Martins, Edinburgh University, Glasgow School of Arts, Goldsmiths.
  • A Foundation Degree in Graphic Design, Photography in Practice, Film and Media Arts Production, Games and Animation Production, Contemporary Arts and Professional Studies and then the relevant Honours top-up. These are all at Weston College in partnership with Bath Spa University and University of the West of England.
  • Other related national and international degree programmes.
Job / career opportunities:

Opportunities exist in advertising, arts administration, fashion design, textile / surface design, fine art, graphic design, illustration, architecture, computer game design, animator, photographer, film maker, interior and product design or a teaching career in art and design.
