English GCSE Re-sit at Lincoln Castle Academy

Course description

This is a chance to re-sit GCSE English if students did not achieve their target of a 'C' grade during Year 10 or 11. This is an important qualification to gain in order to progress onto other courses both at Sixth Form and college and is also a qualification that many employers look for when selecting employees. GCSE English develops many skills that will be needed later on in student's career paths and achieving a 'C' grade often shows a good standard of knowledge. The qualification will allow you to develop your skills of basic literary understanding, analysis and evaluation. These are cross-curricular skills which will compliment every other subject you are studying. English is an academic subject and is a useful qualification to have as students progress through their education and career. It almost essential in this day and age to have English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE 'C' or above) to access many careers and higher education routes.

Entry requirements

Students that are re-sitting GCSE English will be expected to work hard and independently to prepare for their re-sit. There must be a high degree of motivation to succeed to be allowed on this 1 year course. You must already have grade ‘D’-‘E’ at GCSE English.

Future opportunities

English GCSE will open doors to many careers as it is considered a basic requirement in many areas. Gaining this will also allow you to access further education and even University.
