Course content

This is an exciting new qualification designed to give students the opportunity to combine study at A level with core elements of the Welsh Bac, where students develop their key skills and other skills which will serve them well in higher education and the world of work.

Entry requirements

Usually students are 16-19 years-old with at least 5 GCSEs grades A*-C

Assessment

There is no 'exam' as such. Compilation of a Portfolio of evidence and an Individual Investigation is assessed by the centre then externally moderated, by WJEC.

Future opportunities

The experiences that students will have in the Welsh Bac will improve the skills and personal qualities which employers and higher education institutions are looking for, complementing subject knowledge which the options already provide. The WBQ is already recognised by UCAS with the accreditation of 120 points = A grade at A- Level. This is formal recognition by Higher Education institutions that the experiences gained are of value for studies at degree level and beyond.
