Dance AS level at Howard of Effingham School
Course description
This course consists of four components and is aimed at those who wish to extend their knowledge and experience of dance.
Course content
Component 1: Performance and Choreography (PRACTICAL)
- Choreography and performance of a solo
- Performance in a duet/trio
Component 2: Critical Engagement (THEORY)
- Two areas of study – chosen from four The reflection on and understanding of own choreographic and performance practice
Entry requirements
- GCSE Grade 6B in English – Must have prior dance experience outside of school.
- Grade B GCSE Dance (preferred)
Assessment
Component 1: Performance and Choreography (PRACTICAL)
- Practical Coursework (Internally Assessed), 80 Marks (50% of AS)
Component 2: Critical Engagement (THEORY)
- Written Exam: 2 hours, 80 Marks (50% of AS)
