Course description

Year 12

Overview

The Edexcel qualification is split into 4 basic sections over the two years,

Coursework (Worth 30% of the final A level)
Starting in September and ending in March students are expected to complete a portfolio of design work to accompany a final made project.
The coursework is split into 3 sections

  • Product Investigation
  • Product Design
  • Product Manufacture Exam (20%)

After completion of the coursework focus will switch to the exam which will take place in June. The exam will be based upon theory learnt over the course of the year.

Portfolio of Creative skills Design and Technology in Practice

Year 13

Overview

Coursework (Worth 30% of the final A level)

Exam (20%)
After completion of the coursework focus will switch to the exam which will take place in June. The exam will be based upon theory learnt over the course of the year. The Excel Product Design Book (Above right) covers all the theory required.
