Sport (Level 3) Advanced Apprenticeship at Central College Nottingham

Course description

The majority of this course will be carried out within the workplace. This could be within a Leisure Centre, a School, coaching a sports team or a gym / fitness environment. Your classes will be delivered at the college. You will need to have contract of employment for a minimum of 30 hours per week for a 12 month period.

Course content

  • NVQ Level 3 (competence qualification)
  • Level 3 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure & Learning
  • Certificate in Manageing Sport Volunteers
  • Other industry/coaching qualifications as directed by the employer
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs at grades C or above. You need to show that you are committed and aware of your responsibilities to both yourself and the organisation that would employ you. A good reference will be required.

Assessment

You will be regularly assessed in the workplace and will produce an e-portfolio of evidence to show your understanding of the knowledge required. Assessments will include a combination of practical observations, verbal discussions, written assignments and case studies.

Future opportunities

On completion you may achieve a full time position with your employer. If you wish to continue studying you will need good tutor and employer recommendations. It is possible to progress onto the one of the following:

  • University Sports course
  • CYQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training

Further information

You will be required to obtain employment before enrolling. You will need to fund your own travel costs to placement. You will be paid an apprentice wage which will be approximately £95 a week if you work for the minimum of 30 hours. You are expected to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
