Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This course is for those who would like to further develop their knowledge of care principles and gain a qualification that will help them gain employment in the industry This course will instill core principles of best practice including diet nutrition psychology and activity setting for groups Students will be expected to complete a work placement as part of their qualification. Maths and English will be at the core of your study programme. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A*-C including English and Maths or level 2 in Health and Social Care at Merit Grade. You will also need a DBS Check

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 3 qualification e.g. 4 or more AS Levels or 2 A Levels. Advanced Learning Loans are available for further education courses at Level 3, 4 & 5. They operate like higher education loans with deferred payments until you earn over approximately £21, 000 per year. (Information available at https://www.gov.uk/advanced -learning-loans/overview) You have the option of taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan with the college that best suits your needs.

Future opportunities

Once you have successfully completed the Level 3 course you could progress onto the Lakes College Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services, University or employment. Successful completion of qualifications within this area can open the doors to a career within a variety of care settings, including social work, nursing and care home management.
