Further Mathematics A Level at La Retraite Roman Catholic Girls' School

Course description

The Further Mathematics A Level is designed to broaden and deepen your knowledge of Mathematics. It is an essential choice if you wish to study Mathematics at university. It is also highly recommended for courses in Economics or Engineering.

Entry requirements

To gain entry onto the A Level Pathway students would need 5 or more B grades in their GCSE qualifications including a C grade in Maths and English Language. A Level students should chose 3 subjects and the ASDAN COPE Award.

Assessment

Assessment is by examination. Both the AS and A Level require the completion of three modules with the combination listed below

AS: Further Pure 1, Mechanics 1, Decision 2.

A2: Further Pure 2, Decision 2, Mechanics 2 or S3.

Future opportunities

Relevant degrees include: Sciences, Mathematics Economics, Business, Engineering and Computing.

Relevant careers include: Accountancy, Actuary, Management positions, and Computer programming

Further information

Students will have the opportunity to participate in the Senior Maths UKMT Challenges

Students will have the opportunity to attend workshops at Kings and Imperial College.
