Physics A-Level at George Salter Academy

Course description

This course is ideally suited for people with a strong interest in Science and Mathematics. It requires an enquiring mind and a logical method of thinking. Students embarking on A-level Physics will need to be dedicated to the course as it requires a lot of hard work and commitment. The course is very much centred on Physics in the real world and looking at the forces and phenomena behind many common occurrences. Physics students are involved in an on-going project with Silverstone race course, which we hope to continue for many years to come.

Progression routes from this course

An A-level in Physics can lead to careers in medicine, engineering, nanotechnology, teaching, accountancy, laboratory research, patenting, Law, academic research, accountancy, economics, Business and many others.

G483: Practical Skills in Physics 1

Assessment

G481: 1 hr 30% of total AS-level

G482: 1 hr 30 mins 50% of total AS-level

G483: Carried out in lesson times, so unlimited time 20% of total AS-level

Entry requirements

Double Science B-B Triple Science B,B,B

Students must have GCSE Mathematics and Physics at a minimum of grade B and also be studying AS Mathematics alongside the AS Physics course.
