Course description

The Design apprenticeship is aimed at people who want to go straight into employment in the Design industry. The framework covers a range of careers in the creative sector from Fashion, Graphic/Web Designer, Digital artist, product design, advertising, marketing and can be adapted to fit the needs of individual employers and careers.

Course content

This course will give you good all round skills and work experience to enable you to start your career in the Design industry.

Aspects of design and working with client briefs, marketing, branding and presentation skills.


  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Design
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Design
  • Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Art & Design
  • Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Entry requirements

It is preferred that all applicants have GCSE grades A* to C, in both English, Maths and preferably ICT or Level 2 Key/Functional skills in Maths and English. Most employers require applicants to have a basic knowledge of software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. It is also beneficial if you have a digital portfolio of work to show at interview along with an up to date CV.
