Course description

Do you ever wonder how big businesses work? Just what is it that makes them so successful? 

Do you like coursework, but also enjoy the challenge of exams? If so, this is the course for you.

Content Units of Study

If you take this course you will: 

  • Get the low down on how business can deal with problems and how they actually manage to make a profit. It doesn`t just come down to money, there are lots of other things in play! 
  • Investigate the make-up of businesses, there are lots of different departments with lots of areas of expertise. Which one would suit you best? 
  • Take part in practical activities such as planning and running a business, organising an event or setting up a website. 

The good thing about this course is that it allows you to be assessed through both written coursework assignments (4 Units across Year 12/13) and 2 exams (1 in Year 12 & 1 in Year 13)

Progression

The GCE in Applied Business qualifies for UCAS points. If you complete it successfully you could move on to study for a degree in business. You could also go on to a Modern Apprenticeship in related subjects such as Administration or Management or on to relevant employment.

Entry requirements

To be accepted on this course you will need a good attendance and punctuality record, and have a profile of 5 GCSE`s at grade A* - C. You should also have an interest in exploring the world of business in a highly practical way.
