AS Level : Travel & Tourism at English Martyrs Catholic School

Course description

AS consists of 3 units which have equal weighting:  The Travel and Tourism Industry (exam), Destination Europe (coursework) and the Travel and Tourism Customer (coursework).  Part of the course also involves completing an assignment at a Visitor Attraction.

Topics which are covered include the structure of the tourism industry and the external pressures on the industry as well as the impacts of tourism on the host destination.  Students will examine the reasons for growth in popularity of certain destinations and the need for responsible tourism.  Our speical interest holidays focus on the cruise and the skiing industry.

Entry requirements

It is recommended but not essential that you have studied Travel at LEVEL 2 and achieved at least a Pass

Assessment

There will be an exam (1 hour and 30 minutes) at the end of AS and the rest of the course is coursework.

Future opportunities

Students have gone to University to do many courses including Travel and Tourism, Criminology, Management and Business Studies.
