Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 at Warwickshire College Group

Course description

This course is for students who have gained a level 2 vehicle maintenance and repair diploma or sub diploma qualification.  The course builds on the skills learnt at Level 2 and majors on the diagnostics and repair of vehicle faults.  It will involve both knowledge (classroom) and skills (workshop) sessions.

Course content

Job roles in the automotive environment

Inspecting light vehicles using prescribed methods

Diagnosis and rectifcation of vehicle auxiliary electrical faults

Diagnosis and rectification of light vehicle engine faults

Diagnosis and rectification of light vehicle chassis system faults

Diagnosis and rectification of light vehicle transmission and driveline faults

Entry requirements

IMI L2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent and a minimum of 3 GCSE's at Grade C / Grade 4;  to include English & Mathematics or L2 Functional Skills.

Mature students working in the industry will be considered for direct entry.

Assessment

Assessment will be via practical assignments, written phase tests, external exams and porfolios.

Future opportunities

HE courses at level 4 in vehicle studies.
