French AS Level at Parkside School

Course description

The new French AS level is an exciting new course aimed at immersing students in contemporary French Society, language and culture. It develops the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing acquired at GCSE Higher tier, through the more adult topics of the Media, Popular Culture, Lifestyles and Relationships.

 

Course content

Unit 1 Listening, reading and writing

Unit 2 Speaking test

 

Entry requirements

As well as a good GCSE grade (a high C or above) in French, students need to have agenuine interest in all things to do with France and French speaking countries, and awillingness to express their opinions in the target language.

 

Future opportunities

Students can progress on to the A2 course if they gain a 'D' or above at AS.

 

Further information

'A' level French students typically go on to do French at university, find work with tourcompanies and airlines, or within the fields of international business, law and teaching.
